Hey guys need some advice to pass on. A friend called me today with the following issue: He called a number from a lacanto ad to find out whats the rates ect , once the lady answered she started a sex chat and he cut the call after 2 min.
A months later he is contacted by a guy who states he has an unsettled account of 3K which he needs to settle or legal action will be taken against him.
Anyone of you guys has any experience with this ? he is a young guy around 21 and is a bit scared so any help will be appreciated.

No way this happened to me as well!
They tried sending emails and kept calling. Eventually the man that called (said he was a PI) decided to swear at me. Then I knew it was BS bc no professional would do that. Just tell your friend not to worry and say he’ll gladly meet them at the police station if they’re serious.

Locanto has alot of fake profiles and once you contact them, they keep making contact and will want money or else they will "expose" you

Hopefully he wasn't using his regular day to day number. Rookie mistake number 1 - you always use a separate sim card for these kinda calls, exclusive for this purpose.
If he was using a seperate sim card, then he can tell them to buzz off - take legal action as they see fit.
Theyre mostly just threathening, but if they have his correct number, can often pick up some info on him, via a simple google search (eg facebook profile, if he advertised something on gumtree, olx etc)
Best be brave about, and report a case of attempted extortion and blackmail(if it comes to that) with SAPS

Scammers and blackmailers from Nigeria love using Locanto and usually post an ad with a pic of a beautiful woman (if the pic looks too good to be true, it probably isn't true). If you check other major cities you will probably find the same ad posted there as well....and usually the ads ask to reply by Whatsapp only. If you are not using an unRICA'd sim, they will get hold of your name, your Facebook account and your friends from FB. The 'lady' will send you a semi-nude pic if you respond - always use apps like TINEYE to do an internet search of any photos these scammers use. You will then be asked to send a sexy pic of yourself. Don't do it guys!! Once they have the pic or compromising text from you (which they copy), the threats to send the pics or text to your friends and family (who they name) will begin. If you block their number they will contact you again (normally at about 7pm at night) from a different number...block this number and they will phone you. Ignore the call and keep blocking the numbers. DO NOT send these scammers any cash - once you do they will screw you forever. Keep blocking and ignoring their calls and they will move on to easier picking. Beware of LOCANTO.

Thanks guys , Really appreciate your input and will send this info to him. May the Punting gods give you an amazing next session. .
@Damon - thanks this is very helpful and didnt want him to just ignore without some feed back from you guys. @Somebody - Not rookie but stupidity coz he used his work phone at a new job hahaha @Legend - silly boy already gave his cell number when they called the office line to ensure they dont call there again @Nasty - thats why i stick to the sites i know and can confirm with fellow punters on @bushbuck - same words i gave him and also asked him why he didnt msg me first . But poor guy thought it was a WG (bedazzled by the pornstar photos lol) and rushed to call to check rates.
And guys just another reason why we should stick to our moto : " if its to good to be true then its definitely not"
