This happened to me too. Knew it was a scam. But didn't have cop friends to verify. I thought it was a pimp of one of the girls. This is what they do too. They were asking for R14k. Made a bs story of being a student and sent them 'my last' R1k and never heard from them again.

These are criminal syndicates that have these girls working for them, software to fake outbound phone calls can be bought on the darkweb. Happened to me in the USA, "Sheriff" XYZ called me that I approached under aged girls and that they would sent a car to arrest me.... 1st second I was Fuck.... 2nd I was how do they know where I live, impossible and they never send over cars to arrest you.
The guy at the other side noticed my scepticism and started trying to convince me that I needed to put the phone number in Google so I could see the Sheriff's department was calling me ( more red flags ) My luck was that I mistyped so nothing showed up and I told him to fuck off, before he hung up he said that 'they' love Chinese guys in prison hahaha, never knew I had a Chinese accent.
So after this call I Googled the correct number and indeed LAPD showed up online, so I decided to dial the number that went indeed to LA Police but just some random department, so far I thought OK, was this Police but knowing that I never approached underaged children I had a deeper dive into it.
End of story, it's all FAKE, ignore / block the number, etc
Put your whatsapp on only friend can see that you read their messages, take your social media offline for a few weeks( you can easily temporarily go off FB for example ) If someone asks what happened to your profile tell them you try to spend less time on social media, like a dry January, no one will doubt your intensions.

Guys, for peace of mind, just have a burner phone... Finally picked up a phone with a SIM (pre-RICAed). Even if you have to skip a punt or two, save up for an inexpensive smart phone. You can get a decent Samsung for under R2000.
In terms of the burner SIM, most Pakistani shops will have those, just enquire.
Then you're all set. Just keep it switched off when not in use. No stress, no fuss.

I got a phonecall from 0655105245 saying he's from crime prevention in Malvern SAPS and that I raped a girl and then left money. I was confused because I met a girl called Cartier on Sunday and she was from Musgrave and would she go all the way to Malvern to report a crime when there are closer police stations if I did indeed rape her?. I think they're back at it, I'm never making the mistake of using my real sim again. I just asked him since when do they employ foreigners in the SAPS and this guy just kept quiet and I said I'll go to the police station then cut the call and he never called again. Just becareful of that number and the girl called Cartier who I'm sure gave them my number as she's the only girl I met this year so far.

I also got that scam recently. Fortunately I knew someone on the police station where he said he is calling from.
